How to Apply

Step 1: Prepare

Review the grant information packet, which includes:

  • Eligibility and Requirements (Who may apply, what you may apply for, what you can spend grant funds on, and what you will be required to do if awarded a grant)
  • Grant Types (small and large)
  • Evaluation & Approval Process

If you are new to the process or have questions, consider attending one of our informational sessions:

Step 2: Start your application

Each eligible entity may only submit one application per grant cycle.

The application is completed through our online grants portal. If you are new to the system, you will need to create an account; you may also want to view the applicant tutorial. You may save your work, log out, and come back to your application at any time before submitting.

Step 3 (optional): Receive feedback on a draft application

If you would like to receive feedback from State Library staff on a draft of your application, you must submit a draft by the deadline listed in the timeline above.

To submit a draft, enter text into all required fields of the application and click Submit. Once State Library staff have finished reviewing your application, it will be reverted back to "Draft" status within the system. You will be able to view comments and make any desired changes before the final application deadline.

Step 4: Submit your final application

Final applications must be submitted by the deadline listed in the timeline above. Applications that are left incomplete in the system or not submitted by the deadline will be considered abandoned requests and will not be considered for funding.
