Research Groups

Group Libraries

  • Set up group libraries to share items with colleagues, teams, or other research groups.
  • Group libraries have three types:
    • Private
    • Public with closed membership
    • Public with open membership

Create Groups

  • From the Zotero program:
    • Click on the “New Library” icon
    • Choose “New Group”
    • Log in with your Zotero username (or email address) and password
    • Fill out the information
  • From zotero.org
    • Go to the Groups page: https://www.zotero.org/groups
    • Click on the “Create a New Group” link
    • Log in with your Zotero username (or email address) and password
    • Fill out the information

Storage

Using many group libraries may affect default storage limitations because group file storage always draws from the group owner's storage account.

Default

  • All Zotero accounts come with 300 MB of file storage at no cost.
  • To find out your current storage usage, log in to your Zotero account
    • Go to Settings
    • Select Storage

File Storage

  • Additional storage may be purchased for individual accounts:

2 GB $20/year
6 GB $60/year
unlimited $120/year

Zotero Lab

  • Zotero Lab is an unlimited storage plan designed for departments or other groups of 15 users or more
  • Zotero Lab costs $30 per user, with a minimum of 15 users.
    (A minimum of $450.)
