Physical Newspapers and Microfilm

The State Library currently only has physical subscriptions to two tribal newspapers; Smoke Signals and the Confederated Umatilla Journal. The current issues are on display in the Government Room.

There is also an extensive collection of past newspaper holdings that can be accessed on microfilm available at the State Library. You can search for these holdings in our catalog by searching the newspaper title in the main search box and then choosing "Microform" as the Format. View here

The State Library has two microfilm viewers available for use in the Government Room on the second floor. This room is open to the public from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, and for State Employees by appointment from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
